Thinking about a new tractor and I would like to go with a cab this time. When I put the forks on my present tractor and I am loading pallets, I have to stand up to see the ends of the forks. I do this so I can slide the forks into the pallet without damaging the sacks of feed and/or wood pellets. Can you stand up enough to see the ends of the forks with a cab?

No...there is a bit of room in the cab to stand up in but......there is a pressure switch in the seat that will kill the engine if it is not depressed all the time. This is for a roll-over situation in a cab model. At least this is the set up in my 3240HSTC.

Thanks, thats what I needed to know! I may have to rethink and look at the skid steers.

The switch is not the problem, the headroom is. Been freezing clearing snow and baking while mowing so I want a cab. I move a few pallets that weigh 2K + so I need the loader capacity. The 7040 looked ideal, but I cannot do pallet work with no view of the fork ends. The tractor is more versatile in regards to attachments but it appears that the skid steer would fit my needs better.

Can anyone with a B3030 Cab model comment on the OPS? On my B7510 it only shuts down the tractor if you get off the seat with the PTO engaged....just curious if the B3030 cab works the same way, or if the switch is active all the time?

Thanks

The seat safety switch must operate differently on different models of Kubota? My L5030HST with cab keeps running if I leave the seat (without the PTO engaged). Headroom will limit your ability to see the front of the bucket.

Let me clarify...The "OPS" is active when the PTO is in operation and will shut the engine down in the event of a roll-over or if you stand up. The problem, atleast with an HSTC model is if you raise up out of the seat with your foot on the travel pedal it will also shut down the engine....regardless if the PTO is in use or not. I think Dozernut would have a problem "lineing up his forks' if he could not stand up.It may be a whole other story with a hyd. shuttle...but then it's kinda hard to operate the clutch and stand up at the same time. I know this from the 3130 I had before. When the neutral light goes off...as when you put it in gear...the OPS is active.I had a DT with shuttle shift and this is how it worked.Didn't matter about the PTO being on or off.

Hi Dozernut,

The next time you get the chance to look at a school bus, check out the mirrors on the front of the bus. They are designed to give visability right in front of the bus. There may be a way to mount mirror/s on the front of your tractor so that you can see the forks without standing up.

Just a thought, good luck.

My 5030 operates as follows:

at full stop, I can get out of seat and leave the vehicle, it keeps running.

IF vehicle is rolling, even slightly, as soon as my fanny gets light in the seat the engine shuts off.

Thus, you can't rise up to look forward or rearward and keep rolling without bypassing the safety switch. I have a device I have made for that occasion which I carry with me.... I remove it when my need to rise in the seat while moving is past.

Yes, the top of the cab DOES limit significantly how you can see using FEL forks.

I went the skid steer route for a while to use mostly with pallet forks. The problem I had was you cant get off to do anything when you have the load lifted thats the way skeed steers are designed. I ended up selling it and getting a 5740 I can see my forks pretty good from the seat. The 5740 will lift the same load as the large frame skid steer plus has more uses for me . Also the hst transmission works well you have a lot of control for tight jobs.Another thing I did'nt like about a skid steer was it is bad about leaving tracks in grass or soft ground a tractor isnt nearly as bad. I know skid steers are great for some things just didn't work for me.
