QUESTION FOR THE LONG TIME MASSEY OWNERS

What model in the 35-45 HP would you say was/is Massey's best gardening/utility tractor. Best being defined as reliable, durable, and relatively trouble free. It does not necessarily have to be a vintage Massey but could be a later model. Chores will be mostly pulling a double turning plow and a rotary cutter. Thanks for any suggestions you can make.

I'm not a Massey guru so can't give you a definitive answer. But I'll say, you can't buy a bad Massey in that size. Great tractors. I'm kinda partial to the old 135s. But also like the later models such as 231? Great tractors. Let us know what you decide on!!!

I agree with Richard, they where all good!

Starting from 1985 I have owned (and sold) 2 gas TO35's, a diesel MF35, a 235D and this 240D.


I had a 7' rotary cutter that I used on the 240D. It also handled a heavy 7' box blade very well.

MF135 diesel is the classic MF from the 1960s, early 70s. I bought mine in 2006 for $3600.

Also MF150 is a good one--essentially a 135 with a much stronger front axle (useful if you want to retrofit a 150 with an FEL).

Don't know much about later MF tractors.
