I've attached a picture of a broken front rubber seal near the front tire on my BX23. Both the left and right side seals are broken.

Is this a difficult repair and were would I order the replacement part from. Had for 6-7 months and not sure if this is a warranty fix.

Thanks

TractorJim,

Mine look the same as yours. I would classify it more as torn or ripped than broken. Those seals are low to the ground and I think a dealer would be hard pressed to classify it as a warantee item as they are apt to be torn in anything but the levelest of operating environments. Just my .02

Warranty repairs such as this are pretty much at the discretion of the selling dealer. If it were mine, I would ask them to replace them under warranty. If they don't, then you know the type of dealer that you have picked. My selling dealer has replace every item that I asked about under the warranty and never even gave a hint of questioning if it was damage by use or manufacturing defect. They know the parameters of warranty claims and what they can and cannot submit for reimbursement. No reason to second guess what they will do, better to let them decide after you present the problem.

You are right Junkman. Never hurts to ask. I guess with mine, I would feel a bit guilty because I have used mine in some pretty rough terrain and I know mine are torn from use, not defect.

Putting blame aside, what is the downside of not fixing these rubber seals? Has anyone repaired them or is it a job a that requires a trailer trip with the tractor to the dealer.

Also, these seals are close to the ground and thin. Seems dumb that one would expect them to last. A friend suggested sealing with glue to basically prevent dirt from getting in.

The seals by them self are not available thru your dealer. They make you buy the whole tie rod end with seal attached. I just bought one (around $19.00) and hung it on a self to replace the one that is torn when it wears out. I went the electrical tape route as a band aid on mine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I put an email to the dealer for replacement along with if they have the Hydro screen with O rings for 50 hour service.
