New Holland TC33 2003
I am looking to power a log loader on a trailer . My tractor does not have ports in the rear and I thought I would us a PTO hydraulic pump to run it . My tractor is a Tc33 new holland. The ports are expensive and also this could help me keep the oil from the loader seperate from my tractor . Any advice would be appreciated..

The PTO pump system will also need a reservoir unless the trailer has one already. If it's made to be run off a tractor it probably doesn't. It might not even have a relief valve.

Mounting a set of valves will cost you less than the PTO pump etc and you'll be able to use them for other stuff. Also you can get one valve with a detent so you don't need to bungie cord the handle.

Yep, a PTO pump is a whole new set of things that will need to be dealt with. Probably not the easiest or simplest solution.

my pto pump has a 25 gallon reservoir tank. I didnt need a cooling fan as i use it in winter time only. for summer use you may need a cooler unit. The fluids get hot. Not cheap by any means. heres mine powerpack 1.jpg. i got mine from Hydraulic Power Unit : Quick Attach Attachments, Inc.

good luck

OP needs to think of this like running a log splitter off the tractor. Intermixing the hydraulics isn’t an issue.

The other thing the OP could do was undo the curl QDs for the loader. Just have some hoses made for the trailer with the right length and matching QDs. This would be a fairly simple option.

That will work. It may be more GPM than the original which would make the cylinders move faster but of course you can run the tractor engine at a slower speed. You'll need to make a torque arm to keep the pump from rotating but that's pretty easy. The 8 gallon tank should be large enough.

Any idea on what the flow was with the Honda engine? I would guess around 4 - 5 GPM. Based on that the 16 GPM PTO pump might be to big even with your tractor idled down

Fast moving cylinder on log loader might not be a desirable feature
