Picked up the 54" KK today. Ran it through the garden and surprised how well it did on first pass. However after closer look one side of blades front and back aren't turning. When raised off the ground I can't turn them either. Am I missing something?

Are the pans touching at any point?

Factory new Disc Harrows are shipped with the gangs/pans adjusted all the way in to reduce overall shipping width. You may need to loosen the gang hanger U-bolts and slide the four individual gangs away from each other, then re-tighten U-bolts.

Front gangs, which throw soil outwards, need to be close together or you will have an untilled column in your disced area.

Rear gangs, which throw dirt inwards, should be spaced with a gap between the center pans. Start with 12"-14".

Nothing was touching but after closer inspection the brackets holding the blades were off compared to each other. Loosened the nuts, banged with a rubber mallet to line up and all is well. Should look closer before coming to post so soon.

They should rotate, that's why they have bearings in the axles. if it doesn't turn, then yeah, it's a problem and you need to figure out what's going on with it. Grab a big azz wrench and see if you can get it on the big nut on the end of the axle shaft and try to rotate the shaft. I doubt it will turn though, if going through all that dirt didn't make it rotate, turning that wrench by hand probably won't either.

If this is a new disc harrow, you might talk with the store and see if they will either swap it, or make it right.
