Hi All,

I have a customer that wants a front mount snow blower on his Montana 4940C. He wants it skid steer on the loader. No problem on getting the snow blower. The tractor does not have the pump capacity so I would like to mount a PTO pump and run the hydraulics off that.

Now for the question. Does anyone know of a place that makes a mount that will hold the resevior on the rear and the pto pump so it can all fit nicely on the back of the tractor?

Thanks,
Maka

Do you think the current system has enough cooling capacity that you could just plumb your suction and return lines into the existing system? It would save having to mount a second reservoir tank.

The PTO pump could connect to the resevoir with flexible hydraulic hose. Then you could just take a flat plate a bit bigger than the resevoir. Make a three point hitch on the flat plate and mount the resevoir to that. Would make it easy to put on and take off of the tractor.

If I'm following you right, you need to provide hyd. power to the front of the tractor, without using the tractors hydraulic system, to power the front mounted implement ? But have remotes to the front of the end of of the loader arms that could be used as "skid steer type" hyd connections? Sidey

Maka,
As far as I know, no one makes a tank like your asking about. You may have to make one if that is what the customer wants.

Why didn't you just ask me?

Had a customer bring me a Sweepster broom to mount on his 5740C for him. The PTO pump kit had a three point mounted tank that was pretty nice. It's been a while, but from what I can remember, the filter was tank mounted and it had a nice sight tube on the tank too. I ran the pressure and return along the tractor and used QDs front and rear so the unit was easy to take off and put on. There were a few people using the tractor so I had to make everything completely...........................Well I can't think of a polite way to say this so, idiot proof.

If you can find a sweepster dealer near you, I would try there but if you need any more info, I'd be glad to get what I can for you.

I know you have a very good team of mechanics and if you have the ability to fabricate this up, some pictures may help.

He's pretty close to me so if you want some pictures, let me know. The broom is now on another tractor. The 5740 was needed for larger tasks so they converted a smaller tractor to their broom tractor and I plumbed that one up for the too. I know the operators weren't too happy about it because the tractor it is on now has a cab but it isn't sealed and has no AC.

Thanks Guys, this is what I need. The way Montana man has described as well as the rest is what I am wanting to do. We can make a set up but wanted to see if one was already available. If so I would evaluate cost of buying one vs. making one.

Ken, this is exactly what I am looking for. If you get a chance to get a picture or two I woud greatly appreciate it. This is for a large account I have and they want an Erskine snow brush and front mounted snow blower so you have done what I am looking to do.

If you have some sources as well I would appreciate any info you can give.

Thanks,
Bob

Bingo Montanaman! Ran a JD 850 set up exactly as you described. Not one fitting had a QD on it though. We had to pull the broom off every Spring to mount the MMM. I once spent an entire workday mounting the broom back on in the Fall, because I was the only seasonal employee left, and none of the full timers that were there that day knew how it went together. I don't know if Sweepster actually did the installation though. I suspect that a contract shop may have put everything together.

No, I doubt that Sweepster did the installation. I think they are strictly a manufacturer but I know that they did provide the tank and pump kit for the broom through a local distributor and they are for sure one of the bigger broom companies.

If they have that three point mount tank, chances are good that other companies use a similar setup.

The QDs made everything really nice and I reversed the sets so they couldn't end up with the broom rotating the wrong direction. It cost a few extra bucks but the guy in charge of their maintanance knows the value of having things done right the first time. It also makes it really simple to use the pump and tank to power something else in the future and with the skid steer mount, there are a ton of options!
