Question on Smoothing out rough pasture land

Question I have is how do you smooth out land where cattle have walked when wet and sunk down 6" or so making for a rough ride when driving over with tractor. I have heard that perhaps using a landscape rake would work. Any other ideas?

Smoothing it out "after" the cattle are no longer in the pasture? ..and now you are converting over to lawn?

If you don't mind killing the grass then run a disc over the tore up area and reseed. Pretty much everything will damage the grass though. First thing is to drag a chain harrow over the whole field to smooth out the really high spots and cow pies.

Disc it and then drag a log, steel pipe or something heavy to bust up the clod.
Here's the setup I use on my 6-acre hayfield.



It's an old 6.5 ft wide Towner offset disc with a bunch of tires the function as the drag. Got the disc free from a neighbor--replaced about 10 of the discs (called pans), lubed it and it's works like a charm.
