Question on Weigh Stations

/ Question on Weigh Stations #11
I would never give permission to inspect a loaded UHaul. in a comercial vehicle, you've got no choice, but in a Uhaul, pretty sure they need permision.

I've also never heard of a cop telling you to unload, but they will leave you to clean up the mess afterward.

My experance has been driving by the scales @ williamsville, IL on I-55 and I can't tell you how many times I have seen them going though U-haul trucks with the trainee's & drug dogs. I have had a friend that had them do it to him also after he drove by in a 26' ryder rental they brought him back and made him scale then went though his stuff, just to tell him sorry we didn't find anything wrong.

Rules vary from state to state. Any general information may not apply to a particular state and can go to surprising extremes. If you want to be sure, check with the particular state's DOT.

Don't know how much clout to put into this one, it's from a trucker site.
Truck Scales Weigh Stations DOT Rules
I love that site about Florida's because I'm one who has to hit the scales every trip. Sometime twice on I-95. Both places Northbound ( Flagler Beach & Yulee ) and Flagler Beach Southbound this trip. Waved thru the Ag Insp NB and stopped and inspected SB. And in Florida, they will chase down someone in a U-haul for either station type. Ag Stations require all rentals to be opened. Even have a special lane just for them NB at Yulee.
