I've been looking for a York type rake for my Kubota L35 Backhoe. I found a used York RW with wheels, blade & scarrifier but I'm not sure if it is wide enough. The unit is 6ft wide and my Kubota measures 5ft-4in out to out at the rear tires. My Kubota Operators Manual says to limit the rear blade to 72 inches so maybe it's ok. I'd appreciate some input as I have little experience pulling a rake, blade or scarifier..

My driveways are crushed stone and about 750 ft long. I also have three large parking areas and a narrow beach lanes that is just over 7ft wide. My thoughts were to use the rake to brake up any weeds, regrade the stone, and maybe plow snow. I'm concearned that a 6ft rake may not have enough width when angled.

I'm leaning toward this unit because of the scarrifier and blade combo. I'm sure the blade is light duty but the scarrifier should brake up any clumps and it will work great for reworking the drives after the spring thaw. The seller is asking $900. The rake is rusty but it looks like the only damage is one bent tine.

My Kubota is 4 wheel drive and it has foamed tires. However, it is designed as a backhoe and I don't think it has the pulling traction of a regular 35hp, 4 wheel drive tractor. The scarrifiers may be all it can handle.

Anyway, I sure would appreciate any replys.

What is the model number of the York rake? It is wide enough at 90 degrees to your tractor to cover your tire tracks so the width should be o.k. unless you angle the rake then maybe not. Set up a template and check that out. Best case should be the rake at full rotation is still covering your tracks. Rakes in general are not designed to do any deep ripping (sic) as compared to a box scraper with scarifiers. Go to the yorkmodern.com website for current retail prices and then compare.
York Modern produces a very good and heavily built line of attachments.

I'd say get a 7 footer.

45 degrees set have rake cover rear tires and you should be fine under normal use.

The used rake is a model RW @ 6 Feet.

My first thought was also a 7ft rake. However, I don't know if the tractor can pull a 7ft scarrifier and/or blade.

I'm sure the blade is light duty and not designed to cut. It just grades off or wind rows raked material so 7ft is probably ok. It's the scarrifier that may be a problem at 7ft wide.

Like all multi use tools, there is some degree of give and take.

Instead of trying to take full blade try 1/4,1/3.1/2 blade setting until ground loosen,or what setting blade works the best.
