I am getting very close to selling my 345 for an X Series and need to purchase either a 47" snowthrower (two stage) or 46" snowthrower (single stage). My problem is that the whole setup needs to fit in my garage in front of one of my vehicles. Here is the question for those that have one of these setups- what is the total length from the rear fender to the front of either the snowblower or snowthrower. I can't seem to find how long it will be with the standard front quick hitch. Thanks for your help!

wanna,

Although I can't exactly answer your question, this might help: The 46 snowthrower measures 22" deep, from the front edge of the blower to the centerline of the pivot pin that mates with the quick hitch. Right now I am using this unit on a 2210 and the dimension from the front edge to the tractor frame is 37" overall. I used to use this blower on a 425 and it seems the quick hitch was a bit smaller than the 2210's, but something around 37" or less to the overall dimension of the X should give you an idea. BTW, I chose the single-stage over the dual, on my dealer's advice (at that time I had a gravel drive, and he thought I would go through less shear pins). It has worked superbly, but if I had to do it again (now that the drive is paved) I would probably go with the dual-stage. Why? I don't know, perhaps just to try something different. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Happy New Year!

Thanks for your reply. I think that it will fit. There is only about $340-50 difference to go to a new 2 stage versus the single stage. The local Deere dealer is giving me $3500 for my 1996 345 with blower to trade in on a 2003 X475 2WD with 70 hours. He quoted me $5950 for the X Series. It is like new- a JD employee trade. I wish I could retro a used blower like you did. It would be a cheap trade then. Thanks again for your help and quick reply.

I have a JD X485 and a 47" JD Snow Thrower. The snow thrower and attachment was previously used with a JD445. The snowthrower and attachment has a length of 36". Installed on the X485, the total length is 9'. Hope this helps you.
