I just bought my first tractor of my own!! I have a ck25 hst w/72" finish mower. I dont know what speed to run the pto. It has two positions, push lever to front @540 rpm or pull it back @1000 rpm. Is it ok to run it @ 1000 and if so how many engine rpm? I tryed it today and 1000 rpm pto w/ engine @2200 made it vibrate really bad. Thought it might be a little much for the mower? And with that lever in the middle, the tractor makes aweird noise. Im assuming the middle is for the mid pto? But i dont have another lever to put pto in nutral?

It is always best to read your operators manual.
But an answere to your questions.

NEVER:eek: operate your mower in 1000rpm you will blow the gear box apart.
You should run in 540 with the rpm set at pto speed which is marked on your dash.

You should not have any noises coming from the tractor while the lever is in the neutral position unless you shoved the clutch in and moved the lever to the neutral position while the mower was turning, then you would here a clicking sound which is your over running clutch.

Thanks, Ididnt think that was good . The Sales rep who delivered my tractor said it was fine but he honestley didnt know i guess. I dont understand the part about the clutch and over running it. The owners manuel just tells you what the levers do.

What kind of noise are you hearing when you put the lever into neutral?
Is the mower still spinning fast at the point when you put the lever into neutral and do you have the clutch depressed?

ITs like a rattle ,when i push the clutch in it stops and when i release it starts agin

That could be a million things I would check the roll bar bolts there are anti rattler knobes that will loosen up every now and then.

It is very hard to pinpoint a rattle because the noise will travel, if you think it is inside the trans I would contact your dealer and run it by them.

My CK30 gear with 33hrs. on the clock has a noise coming from what sounds like the rear end when running. When I depress the clutch all the way down to release the second stage the noise changes. Is this what you are talking about?
