Tractor
Mahindra 4530
I currently own a 2015 4530 and the dealer sold me on a 6 foot standard duty bush hog. I'm wondering now if I went too small. Would this tractor be able to handle a 7 foot heavy duty hog? Some of the land I bush hog is hilly.

Thanks,
Darrell

I wouldn't. I have a 2555 HST with 42.5 PTO HP and it does fine but when I get in the 24"+ tall, really thick weeds I have to slow down a bit and let it catch up when I am mowing 4"

A 7' finish mower you could possibly handle but not a 7' HD rotary cutter, at least the Mahindra/Kodiak model.

The general rule is 1 foot of mower per 5 pto hp.

You might be better off with a 8' twin spindle mower (possibly a towed or semi mount vs a 3 point one) vs a 7' single spindle mower.
It won't stick out as far and may be easier to spin IP.

I just bought a landpride RCR1872. The main reason is that my max pto is 31HP and the cutter is rated with a range of 20-65 HP. They usually package the 5 footers with same size tractors as mine and pto requirements are the same.

I did a good amount of research and decided to go with this one due to the balance of weight, cutting ability, quality and PTO flexibility. Hope that helps.

Thanks. The dealer kind of frowned against going with a 7 footer, but it seems that my 6 foot bush hog barely covers the tire tracks. I was hoping for something a little bigger.

It will handle the 7fter

Id go to a 12ft wing

I was considering an 8-footer for our Kubota L3830 and it has a fair amount less horsepower than your tractor does.
An 8ft twin spindle bush hog should be about 6 feet long and 8.5 feet wide
