Questions about a DK55?

Is a DK55 heavy enough to double stack round bales? Can it handle picking one up with the loader and three point and carring at the same time?
I would prefer a non cab model as I have some clearence issues in one barn I clean.

I may also want to mow hay with a 9ft NH489 haybine and also bale with a NH 315 small square bale. Would it handle a round baler if need to.

it will handle that job very nicely. i have one, the hydraulics are very strong. mine has the KL551 loader on it. its for sale if intrested.

I'm not into haying, but my neighbor makes 750 pound and 1500 pound round bales I think. Still, based on my test of a DK65 in the past, I would think you could spear one on the front and rear no problem. Obviously I don't think you could double stack anything using the 3 pt. hitch (joke intended), but I think you can stack them with the FEL on a DK55. I'm sure some owners of them will jump in with actual experience.

I have no experience with round bales, but cutting firewood today with mine I was able to grab 3 good sized maples and hold them up with the grapple for blocking up. The grapple weighs quite a bit (AnBo 66") and the trees were probably 14" at the butt, but whole tree in length. I was happy with that, it seemed like it wanted more too!!

I have no problem with the tasks you mention. I use forks on mine instead of a spear and have a weight box on the rear, but it works very well. I use the forks more than I ever realized I would. Just today, unloaded a 1 ton pallet of cattle tubs, and a pallet of cake feed ( 1 ton ). It makes this old man a lot less tired at the end of the day.

The DK55 is very able to handle those tasks...
The new round balers can run off 30pto if needed(Massey 1734 3x4 bales or the 1745 4x5 bales need 40 pto hp at approx 1250lbs per bale)


The only thing that might be boader line would be your 9ft haybine and I can't find the pto hp specs on that.

I just looked up my haybine HP requirement in the manual. I guess I forgot it would be in there. It states 35HP or greater. It should work then. I still will have the old JD4430 to pull it most of the time, but in a pinch it would handle it.


I was at the Louisville Show this last Friday and looked over several utility loader tractors. I think Kioti seemed like the best value to me. I do have a dealer not to far also.

We do have a DK50SE hydro that will be here shortly.
