Questions about older \'botas for sale

I am seriously looking at a 2wd L235. I have checked the specs at machinerylink, but would like other 'soft' information...does it have position control? Gauges or idiot lights? Foot throttle?

I used to have a 78 B6000E so I am familiar with old kubotas. Any help would be appreciated .

Oh, i am also looking at a grey market L2000 if anyone knows about that model.

(I tried this on the kubota forum with no luck)

Steve they didn't have much for gauges on that model. Even the tach only had three digits. The hitches at that time were only position control. The system they used for the three point hitch was just like every other system used. Today with the newer style three points they can offer more flexibility for the operator with the quarter inching valves that they offer today.

stevem,

recomend staying away from the grey market equipment.
You'll have a real hard time finding parts or anyone to support that product. As for the L235, not a bad machine, but it was definitly built in the dark age. Make sure that the machines chasis is in good shape, if not don't bother with it.

hah - dark age. You guys are funny on this board.

I currently have a 47 Ford 2n. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was just curious about the little things like whether it has a tach and temp guage, which my 78 B6000 did not have. I am comparing the L235 to a similar price Ford 1900, the Ford has the nod so far. both are one owner, mowing only tractors in mint shape for age.

I have passed on the grey market for the obvious reasons.

Re: Questions about older \'botas for sale

Steve.......It will have a tach but probably have an idiot lite for the oil pressure..........No temp guage but a neat whistle arrangement built into the radiator overflow vent tube which you hope you never hear !! ( It would mean your coolant has turned to steam and it's time to run !!) All kidding aside, old bota's are/ were very well built machines and are hard ( but not impossible) to kill. I had a grey L1500 DT for 10 years and mowed thousands of laps over my 3 acres, then sold it last year to a family member who plans to use it the next 10. Oil filters were a bit pricey @ 17.00 each but other parts interchanged with the L175 (motor) and the L225DT (chassis)..........So even grey there was a part available if I needed it.........But I didn't need many !! I'd but another old Bota anyday..............TOM
