Hello Everyone, I have a newer M5040 with 19hrs on it. When I purchased it I asked the salesman if he thought I needed a second remote. He advised me that he did not think I did and that he couldnt think of any impliments that fit a 50 horse tractor that used two remotes. Well I want to add a Hardee h360 ditchbank mower to the tractor (we have 120 acres of mine spoil ground with many many hills and sloped banks on the lakes)

The Hardee needs two remotes to operate. I have one but a place for a second and a third. the dealer wants $760 for the remote and $250 to install it. the dealer also said that I cannot use the lines going to my FEL to run the Hardee (seems nice and could use one control for both mower movements) How hard is it to add the remote myself? and why cant I use the FEL lines/ controls

Zebrex,

That's interesting -- your dealer comment.

Just last week I ask a Kubota dealer about cost to add rear remotes to my L3830. He quoted exactly the same number $760 for parts.
Then he said, you have a FEL and you could use two of those connections. He said some guys use to two lines that tip the bucket. That way you can still raise and lower the loader if it is left on the tractor.

Guess I haven't thought too much about how handy or unhandy that would be yet.
But it's interesting that your dealer says no -- and mine says why not.

I think your dealer advice isn't far off on this - the Hardee 360 is a large machine and may be more common to see on a heavier 60 or 75 hp tractor ? The mower is hydraulic drive so it needs a lot of flow - the M5040 loader hoses & valves would be on the small side (slow operation, heat-up of the hydraulics).

the dealer is the one who wants to sell me the hardee, doesnt mention a size issue for the tractor . the PTO connects to the hydraulic pump that drives the deck. all I want the fel controls and hydros- to do is move the two cylinders that move the hardee in and out and up and down. I still dont understand why I cant use the fel to do that

Ok, sorry - I didn't understand the Hardee has its own hydraulic pump for the mower motor.
To prevent the mower weight from influencing the in-out function, the up-down cylinder could use your existing single remote circuit, and the FEL's curl circuit could run the in-out function. If you pinned or chained the bucket in place the connectors for the in-out could be just teed off the curl lines (before they split).

you should be able to, the only issues I would have would be A. will it be fast enough and B. will the weight of the cutter bouncing out on the end cause the pressure relief valve to bypass.
