Questions about Trim Tex

Does anyone have experience using Trim Tex drywall corner bead? Trim-Tex - The premier manufacturer of vinyl drywall beads Im looking at the "magic corner". I have a long, splayed (135 deg) run of drywall that has given me problems with cracking in the past. Its actually in the upstairs of a barn so its around a 40' run that i would like as straight as possible.

Is this product any good? Ive watched the instruction video, and it recommends stapling the product up before putting on compound. Has anybody used drywall screws with this product as i dont want to go and buy their special stapler? Any other tips for installing it?

I don't know if it was this brand or not, but I have used the plastic corner bead they sell at the box stores and I have also used the metal bead. I have the tool that seats the metal bead, but I usually put drywall screws in it to make sure it stays put. In my opinion, the drywall screws seem to seat better with the metal product than with the vinyl product that I used.

There are some construction related websites where they get pretty specific on drywall and which types of drywall mud should be used in which situations. You might want to do a search and take a look elsewhere to see what you might find on your situation. You apparently have something going on that bugs you and you probably want to fix it once and be done with it.

Thanks 2manyrocks. I like the metal corner bead myself. Yes i have a specific problem im trying to fix once and for all. The drywall is attached to strapping nailed to the barn rafters, so the angles between two sheets is greater than 90deg when going up the wall. I hope TrimTex has the flexabilty to stop the cracking. I also want the seam to be as straight as possible. Ive screwed the drywall in place (previous contractor used nails, on too far a spacing so the drywall sagged). Ive been looking online and havent found alot of info specifically about Trim Tex. I know we have quite a few contractors on here so im hoping somebody has had hands on with the product.

There is a product that comes in a roll that might work. I think you mean that it need to be flexible enough to cover the odd angle you're trying to cover. I haven't used it, but you might do some more checking on it.

Thanks for the link. Ill poke around there for a bit. Yeah the Trim tex stuff comes on a roll. It has a rubber membrane connecting the 2 mud legs so i hope it has the flexability i need. Its like a tray type ceiling with all the off angles involved. TrimTex recommends their proprietary glue + staples to hold the product on the wall. Im hoping i can get away with just the glue or the glue and drywall screws. Maybe regular T-50 staples will work.

I found a couple posts on the above link that lead me to believe that the adhesive and regular staples should suffice. I think thats what ill do unless someone posts otherwise or recommends another product.

I would worry about the regular staples rusting in the mud.

Chuck, yeah i was kinda thinking about that myself. I have some stainless staples left from a porch screening project that im going to use

When I looked at the other website, it seemed to me that nobody really liked plain vinyl or metal corner bead for your application. There seemed to be a number of posts recommending No-coat.

I saw that too, most were concerned that their customers wouldnt like the "look" of the magic corner because of the rubber membrane, but the flexability was there and several of the pros on there swore by it for tray and cathedral type ceilings. NoCoat is a option ( i checked out the website), but it requires specialty equipment as far as i know. My local building supply has TrimTex so thats one of the main reasons im interested. Unfortunately, I dont know of anywheres locally that has nocoat besides the cost of the required equipment. I think Magic Corner by trimtex is my only option, besides the paper tape which has failed.
