My barn costs, first off I built it, in the summer of "03 and MI and FL cost may vary a lot, these are rough numbers.
3500 fill and dozer work in '01 (hired out0
12700 for pole barn kit with some upgrades from standard kit
1500 equipment rentals
1500 for gravel and to rent compactor used my fel on this one
2000 to run 50 amps of 220V (200 ft) buy and wire lights and outlets.
so just over 21000 for mine, if every thing was hire out??

40'x60'x12' high, ,(2) 12'x11' sliders, 1 36' access door, insulated metal roof with sky-lite material and ridge vent, 1 foot eaves 2-tone siding(that was wife's doing)
It uses 2x6 trusses 4' on center. It when up a lot easier than a thought it would, but I had two expert advisors. and A LOT of help. So to correct my earlier post I didn't build it, WE built it

I now have a much better overall plan thanks to your replies. I just picked up a plan for 24'x24' from our county engineering department. The drawing says I can put a garage door up to 12' W but height is not specified.

Here is my question. How tall should the garage door opening be? How tall are 50-60 HP tractors? I checked John Deere website but it doesn't show tractor height.

By the way, I don't think cows need to be put in a barn for the winter in Florida. Thank you.
