Quick Attach and Glow Plug

After some work, we found the problem I had with the glow plug light not staying on. I was asked by my dealer to try the ignition switch but that didn't fix it. So I took the tractor (TC33D) and the dealer found the glow plug timer was not working. He replaced it and it has worked like a charm. Thanks to everyone that helped me with that situation.

Now the bad news. I have a 7308 loader and I wanted to get a quick attach system to eventually get a snow plow for the loader. I bought the unit from my dealer. I bought the plate and the actually QA that goes on the loader arms. I had a guy weld the plate on per the dealers instructions. The problem is, my bucket now has 4-5 inches less curl then it did. We ground off the old attach area on the bucket per the dealer. We then welded it on exactly where it should be.

I think they gave me a bucket originally that was made for a skidsteer and it doesn't work right when using the loader arm QA system.

I have attached some photos that I took. I have asked the dealer to fix it. One thing I did notice on his lot were the buckets with the QA built in. They seem to be about a 75 degree angle and the bucket they gave me has about 90 degree angle when sitting flat. Again, I think they gave me the wrong bucket.

Can anyone tell by the photos?

You're right, that isn't going to work very well like that.

Bob, I agree that your bucket is never going to be able to curl more without having a sharper angle on the rear. I think your bucket is made for the loaders with the extra braket we have between the hydraulic ram and the attach point. With your setup, you can only achieve more rollback by having a bucket at about 75º as you stated. I'd try to get the dealer to help with that too, especially if he picked out that bucket as the one you should have. He may be able to put a wedge on the bottom of the plate and get your geometry where it should be.

Thanks guys for the responses....I have told my dealer he needs to make this right. Either he makes my bucket usable or he gets me a new QA model for mine in trade.

My ATI QA system seems to have some angle built right in, so a standard skid steer bucket works just fine on my 7308. I agree your dealer should fix it.

To skew the thread a little, my 7109 loader on a 2120 won't tip back much either, and it is a nuisance carrying some loads. I even thought it might help to deconstruct the elbow welds of the loader arms and straighten them out a little (more like the low rounded modern ones) though I'd never do it. I have a maybe old version of the QA from Ford/NH that uses spring-loaded pins, works pretty good. Only cure I can see (besides the radical surgery I mentioned) is to break the welds and put some steel between the bucket and the QA plate to tip the nose up. Probably I'll just leave it.

Jim a wedge behind the bucket sounds like a pretty good plan to me. But 1st I would trace the side contour of the bucket on some thick cardboard. Then attach it to your FEL to work out the correct angle. Make sure that it will go back level when you need it to. If everything works then you have a place to start and know what it's going to look like after it's modified.

I have the "factory" QA bucket, 60" size, on my 29. I get lot's of rollback with it. The brackets are mounted lower than those in the pics. The top of the plate on the loader arms connect at about the place where the bend is between the top and back of the bucket shown. When I try to back drag with the heel of the bucket, the QA brackets leave nice grooves in the surface I'm working. The bucket is also a different profile than the one shown and different from the non-QA bucket, having a little larger capacity according to the dealer's book -- about .3 cubic feet if I remember right.

You've gotten plenty of good suggestions on how to fix. I will add this - you are right to want it fixed. I have a TC18 w/ 7106 loader - no quick attach. Dad has a TC40DA w/ 16LA loader w/ quick attach. His curls back way more than mine. It is a joy to use his - fills much easier & keeps cargo in as well (firewood etc.)
