OOPS! meant to title as 3PH systems not PTO! A little background. I purchased a JD 4200 HST/FWD, a little over a year ago! I immediately purchased a frame mount BH, built for that tractor. It's been on it since, so I haven't used any 3PH attachment yet. What's the grief about pulling the two swing arm pins and connecting the top link? I can envision that it might be a pain if the implement sunk into the ground so that the pins weren't level. But there's an adjustable link for the one side. I read through the current threads a bit, but admit, not completely. I gotta be missing some thing! If the unequal pin alignment is the issue, wouldn't one's money be spent on Top&Tilt? Guess I'm not looking forward to using 3PH stuff if changing it is a hassle! Even with the quick systems, ya still gotta wrestle the PTO shaft. Or do all you guy have smooth, painted shop floors to slide around on for that?:D Guess I'll be in the mud for PTO stuff!:( ~Scotty

The quick change or quick attach comes into play when hooking up attatchments to your 3pt, not reinstalling your 3pt arms. Sure you have to wrestle with the pto shaft at times, but at least you will not be tired from scooting your heavy equipment around by hand.

Morning Scotty,

I've got a quick attach adapter on both my tractors, most of the time I can just backup and grab the sprayer, disk, plow or ditch bank mower and then get out to hookup the pto and lock down the arms. Some times you need to get off and adjust the top link on my T2220 but I just reach over and hit the lift then and it pops right up. My new T2220 has the pull out lift arms but I still like the quick attach better.

ya know --- and I resemble this next remark -- it could have something to do with age as well. As we get older some heavy lifting stuff just gets harder to do. My shoulders are worn out and I have a terrible time anymore lifting anything.

I have no trouble hooking up my 3pt just use your head and let it do most of work. when taking implements off block them up, when you go back to get them you won't have to pick them up to get on hitch . Make sure that PTO hookups are clean and well oiled. I take the part that hooks to tractor and hang in out building that keeps it out of weather and out of sight. Have lost a few eather sprouted leggs or got picked up by accident "I know someone wouldn't pick them up". And I neaver buy one of the new type PTO connecitons that you have to pull to , if emplement has that type on it I tell dealer to change it or I won't buy it.

That would work if the only issue was height alignment. A few degrees off perpendicular and you're not going to connect the two lift arms. I don't have a quick hitch, but I do have the Pats Easy Change system. When I back up, if I'm not in perfect alignment I can just raise the arms until the bracket on one side hits and then back up a little more, moving the implement a bit until the second one lines up. I'm sure a quick hitch setup would work the same way.

Yes we all still have to mess with the PTO. But connect it first when you're 6-12" away if you have that much slack. You would have a little more room. Then back up and connect. I'm getting off the tractor twice that way though. The second time is for the top link in my case.

Growing up I had to hook up much larger 3PH equipment and this compact utility stuff is much easier. When I get older I will have a QH but for now I buy more attachments instead!!
