I am installing a Greens Machine Thumb on my bucket, and using my rear remotes. I want to know if I can remove one of the rear quick couplers without oil spewing all over the place. I want to take one to the hydraulic hose place to make sure I get the right fittings,as I understand there are several different kinds.
Thanks,
Bill

No easy way. You’ll get some oil. Just stuff a small rag in the opening. Some would just catch it in a cup until it stops flowing then carry on with your plans.

Can't help with the oil spillage, minor amount really and it will not just continue to run out.

As far as the couplers that you need, ISO 5675 1/2" male. 99 out of 100 times this is what rear remote outlets are. Most people get NPTF (1/2" pipe thread) for connecting to the hose. I would get the poppet style.

goes without saying don't run the tractor while coupler is off.... while there what I did was put a T in place and hard plumbed hoses to the front of the tractor down the loader arms and put the quick connects 3' off Greens cylinder so the hook up is at the loader not the back of the tractor.. then you can also leave the hoses on the loader arms (I made an adapter for my pin on and go back and forth from forks to bucket) and pop the cylinder connections off and still use the remotes in the rear :)

I installed the Greens Machine Thumb on my bucket and forks. I bought 2 base plates (one for bucket, one for forks). Then I can switch the thumb between the bucket or forks. I bought these Pioneer fittings at TSC store. They have ball or poppet type. I went with ball but either will work. I bought the combo pack which has the male and female coupler. Two right angle swivel fittings. I also bought ready made 12'ers of 1/2" hose from them too to run to the front and two 4' hoses for the thumb. The 12'ers were long enough to reach the loader.

Here's a link to my post.
