I am building my grapple system now. I got a Fasse valve kit (great people to work with) and have ordered the 48" Gator/Markham light duty grapple rake (with extra tines - seemed a wise move). The grapple should show up early next week, but I want to be ready for it as much as I can. I guess I need to ask Gator what they put on the hoses for quick connects (if they have quick connects, or just JIC fittings), but is there a general standard that tractor stuff uses? I see several "standards," not surprisingly, but don't know which one is "the" CUT standard. ...Yet.

This grapple is going to be exactly what I need for the rest of my land clearing. I wish I had this 3 months ago...Live and learn.

Thanks,
Dave

ISO 5675 (also known as Agricultural Interchange or "Pioneer") couplers are the most common on tractors and farm equipment, but ISO 16028 flushface couplers are gaining popularity in this area.

Definitely check with your dealer to see which couplers are on your equipment. Once you know what you need, you can get pretty good prices at Hydraulic Quick Disconnects > Discount Hydraulic Hose.com

I haven't dealt with Markham for several years but back then, you would just tell them which connectors you want. If so, you should be able to do that now before they ship it. I'd bet their default connectors are the flat faced skid steer type since that's their main business.

When I bought my Markham two years ago, it came with "flat face" skid steer style. THe other style, what usually is referred to as Pioneer Ag style is more common on tactors. Either work fine. I changed the flat face on the grapple to Ag style, but you could also do it the other way. They are rather expensive, so it would be better if you had Markham install the style your loader control has on it (or none at all and let your add whatever you want, at a reduced cost)

I have both on my tractor.

I have the "AG Standard" connects on my rear remotes. Anything pluggin in back there will be AG stuff.

I have the "Skid Steer" flush-face connects on my 3rd function remote up front. Anything plugging in up there will be skid-steer stuff.

Anything that does not have the correct connects will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. I think I have the right combo for 99% of the time though.

If I bought an attachment for my FEL that was hydraulic and it did not have the skid-steer flush face connect, I would put them on to keep with the skid-steer "standard" I have established on my FEL.

That makes a lot of sense as everything that goes on the front will likely be a skid-steer type attachment. I think I will follow that, assuming that is what I get on the unit. Forgot to ask them...

Thanks guys!

Mine is skid steer type on the loader, ag on the rear as well and that works OK since I have a tracked loader that shares implements with the tractor. However, I have a lot of trouble hooking up those skid steer connectors sometimes and the tips provided online don't always help. The ag type are easier to hook up for me. I doubt if it's too late to contact Markham to get whichever you prefer.

Yeah, I agree with your logic, just like rjkobbeman. Makes a lot of sense. Tractor attachments go on the 3pt, so use the Ag connector for rear remotes. The sid steer QA is a fairly recent addition to loaders, so everything up there is probably a skid steer attachment.

I have read where connecting the skid-steer couplers can be problematic. It appears to be pressure in the implement from heat. They make skid-steer couplers that claim to be "plug-able" under pressure... but they are a lot more expensive.

They may contact you, as the 3rd function kit does not come with couplers. Very easy to change though... just a screw-on pipe-thread coupler.

... I take that back. I was thinking of the Kubota kit. I'm not familiar with the kit your are geting. It may come with couplers.
