Hello,

I'm having some difficulties and I'm wondering if someone can help....

I've got a 2005 2305 with 70 hrs on it. Since spring has come around, I find I'm needing to occaisionally swap between the MMM and the loader (Don't like operating with both installed). But I'm having a helluva time inserting the quick connectors all the way to make the join when reinstalling the loader.

I can hook up hoses #3 and #4 very easily but for the life of me I can't get #1 and #2 to insert!! It doesn't let me insert the hose into the female connector all the way.

I tried relieving the pressure in the line on the female connector, but there was no pressure present. I examined the mail connectors for #1 and #2 and can see a slight longer length of that centre push pin (maybe only 1/32 of a diff) compared to loader hoses #3 & #4.

As a test, I can successfully insert hoses #3 & #4 into the female connectors #1 & #2 but not vise versa, meaning I've isolated hoses #1 & #2 as the culprits.

Furthermore, when I examine the male hose connector #1 and #2 from a side view, I can see the extrusion of a tappered part of the centre push pin but I can't see this same tappered part on #3 and #4.

I've successfully removed/installed the loader maybe 10 times already but this problem has just recently started this spring.

My dealer is closed today, so I can't get their opinion this matter. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance!!

It sounds to me like there may be pressure on the hose to the loader. Try pushing the male ends against something. You may have to press pretty hard. WARNING- Fluid will shoot out- cover with a rag!

Hope that helps- Jason

Wow that did the trick! I used a pair of slip-joints. Pressed hard and bango! it shot out pretty hard. Connected first try!

How does this happen? It's the second time in as many loader installs. Maybe I'm disengaging from the loader improperly. Once I flip open the cast iron clamps on either end I lower the wheels of the tractor, then the whole loader lifts up off the two rest pipes sticking out of the monting bracket on the tractor. Once its high enough to clear, I back out about 6 inches then disconnect the hoses.

Maybe I should turn off the tractor and relieve the 4 lines with the SCV before disconnecting!

Thanks again jason!

Yes- Always relieve the pressure. You can unhook the hoses under pressure, but almost impossible to reconnect them!

You're Welcome- Jason

GordNovo,
Yes the tractor should be shut down and the pressure relieved by operating the handles/joystick in all directions. A change in ambient temp. will cause the fluid to expand a bit after disconnecting. I have to release pressure almost every time I try to re-install the loader.

As already replied, and I think the manual (at least mine does) also says to shut the tractor off, and move the joy stick around to relieve the pressure in the lines before popping the connectors free.
But heat will build up pressure over time, and settling of the FEL can also put pressure on the cylinders.
The only nuisance part of pressing the ball in on the tip is the oil that can shoot out or run out when relieving the pressure.
Some put a release valve in the line. Still have to let the oil go somewhere.

Gord,

Look at the side profile of your loader bucket (Deere adopted this same profile across the board to save $). It looks like it will roll back on its own over time (and it will). This is where the pressure builds up. If you park the loader with the bucket curled back, this almost becomes a non-issue. I have friends that place a small block under the deck to keep it from rolling back. That is another option. Compared to my last CUT (JD755) which had NO issues with this, I too was stumped the first time I went to put the loader back on. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I didn't follow that explanation. What 'rolls' back? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ahh Ha!
Ok. Now I've figured it out /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If the FEL is 'parked' with the bucket bottom flat, it will attempt to roll or curl back, thus putting pressure on one curl line. But, if curled when parking, it will stay in it's neutral state. I think I tried to park it once with the bucket tipped so it wouldn't pond water in it. That resulted in pressure in the line that had to be relieved. So now I let the water accumulate. Maybe one could put a stick or a ram stop on the curl rams to hold the bucket tip down. I might try that next time. Maybe snap a plastic pipe over the ram rod. Thanks for pointing that out.
