I have a BX 2200, will a quick detach hitch work on my tractor? Are they worth the money? I have found that mounting a box blade was fairly time consuming requiring fiddling. Maybe it will get easier with more experience. thanx.

I assume you have a cat 1 three point? If so a quick hitch would work. The best setup would be the freedom hitch for ease of use, can do everything from the seat, even on uneven ground. Downside is price and you get a tractor portion and then have to get an implement portion for each implement you own ($200 per unit). Kind of pricey for the home use person. Second best which I opted for is the "quickhitch" that just goes on the three point. I got the landpride but there are various manufacturers and it's the best thing I've bought. Well worth it and makes hooking up MUCH easier. Get one, u won't regret it.

Fill out your BIO so we know what u have.
KK and some of the box blades and other implements have interference
in the top link area and require some mods to get them to work.
Need to look before u buy.

I have a B7500 with a speedco quick hitch. Every implement I have, I have had to modify. Even with that when done much easier to hitch and unhitch. I have a back blade, box blade, 3p finish mower, 3p carryall and a 3p tiller. All diferent brands. With the speedco hitch the lower attach points are made for cat 3. I was buying the big collars at 20 some dollars a pop. I have since found so cat 2 pins with the same bolt size as my cat 1 pins at about 3.00 each. I have gone that way now.

hoeman does make a good point but even if you need some modification for a particular implement you only have to do that once. I have a bushhog rotary cutter, woods rake, woods backblade, and a no name box blade. Only the box needed some tweaking, everything else fit fine. (The top link connection point can be pinned at different heights). My box blade had to have some metal cut away to allow the lower arm to access the pins)

FYI, the Speeco hitch does not match the Cat 1 quick hitch specs. Lift pin spacing and hook depth are incorrect. It is a good unit, but not all JD I-Match or other true Cat 1 implements may require modification.

I'm a 3PH rookie too. I had a heck of a time hooking up my box blade and rotary cutter, even with the telescoping 3PH which came on my tractor. Best thing I got to help me along was a spud bar. I can nudge the implement around much easier. I also set the implement down on a couple short 6x6's which makes it even easier to maneuver. Hope this helps ....

This Speeco non-conformance news makes me pretty angry with Speeco. The whole point of the standard is so all implements that conform will work. Stupid speeco. Not a good thing. I wish my JD dealer had an Imatch hitch. He didn't even know what one was!

I have spent and am spending a lot of time modifying implements. If ASAE was responsible they would publish the spec as public domain and make it available for free. We non-ag engineers should not have to pay a fortune for it. Imagine a monopoly on a measurement! I wish it would get out on the net.

Speeco's hitch works great on some implements. We first noticed the situation because the top link hook sat closer to the hitch frame than others. This makes the adjustment bolts interfere with implements having a top link pin free span of less than 2 3/4" ( the bolt heads hit the implement before the hook is in far enough to engage the top link pin ). Then we found that some implements which use a clevis pin for a lower lift pin had an interference situation also. This is not to say the hitch doesn't work, it just doesn't setup with all Cat 1 implements, even if they are true Cat 1 dimensions.

Anyone know what the John Deere I-Match hitch for a Cat-1 and a Cat-2 cost? I may go to JD tomorrow and ask ... some of the Cat-1 implements are hard enough to hook up but when you get to the Cat-2s it takes a big sledge hammer ...
