Quick hitch Cat 2

Hi Guys,

We purchased a nice JD Cat 2 quick hitch second hand. It is cast, not box style. However the distance between the lower hook arms center to center is 38"" which I think is the measurements for a Cat 3. We are using it on a JD 5425 about 80 hr. The hitch is a monster, a little over kill for what we need.
Some folks are saying that you can adjust it to Cat 2 or to 32" center to center. Does anyone have experience with that? I really do not see how it can be adjusted. I do not have any Cat 3 implements. Any suggestions?

Does it look something like this? Not a very good pic, but on this one there are four bolts on each side of the arms at the top, this allows for the arms to be swapped side to side to change the width of the hitch.
