Quick Hitches quick hitch for $99

Homiers tool show is here this weekend. I was thinking about picking up a quick three point hitch for $99. do these thing really make it that much easier to change out tools?
I will most likely end up with a disc harrow for $359 at the same time.

YES, they make it that much easier. Try putting on a 900lb ballast box on the 3pt without one and you will swear, sweat and probably hurt something.

With the quick hitch, I lower the hitch, back in, pick up the ballast box with the 3pt and drive away. The quick hitch automatically locks.

One of the best things I ever bought for my tractor.

Good value for the money. Only two moving parts, so not all that much to go wrong. You're likely to be investing in some floating toplink brackets though, when you discover how hard it is to get that top hook to fit anything. I got about $50 bucks worth from LandPride, after which the Homier QH was able to lift every implement I had at the time.

I'd still have mine, but I bought a bigger tractor and went to Cat 2 stuff.

At first I was like you, not quite sure if they were worth the money... After about an hour long episode trying to get my ballast box on (1500#) I went straight out and bought one the next day. Now looking back I would never own a 3pt tractor without one, and I would gladly pay the $225 for my JD I-match again. Be cautious of "cheap imitations" for lack of better words, I've learned you get what you pay for. You'll never regret it!!!

How well does the I-match work with a box blade? Is it easy to tilt the blade?

I dont have a box blade yet (currently shopping), but I can angle my RB just as easy by adjusting the top link. The ultimate for me would be a hydraulic top and tilt link which I am also currently shipping for..

I have a Speeco quich hitch from TSC and love it. Best custom thing I have done. If it broke I'd buy another tonight, but would spend the additional $ for JD I-Match. The additional safety is worth it. Your back is not worth risking. I would not buy the Homeir quick hitch.

Homier hitch:
There is a standard for quick hitch configuration. The standard for Cat I hitch calls for pins that are CAT III diameter. The reason for this is so you have lots of wear surface and so they don't bend, as the forces are different compared to if the pin is fully supported and surrounded by your lift arm hole. It is very easy to adapt the pin size. Just get a CAT I to CATII and CAT II to CAT three bushing for each pin, slip them on, and tack weld to your existing pins. Speeco also sells adapters, but cost is a little higher.

The Chinese for some reason decided that the standard did not apply to them, so their hitch does not meet the standard. I looked at this hitch and was ready to snatch one up, but the non standard configuration bothered me.

Spend the additional $100 for the Speeco or $150 for JD. Once you get your implements set up you will love quick hitches.

Buying Implements:
The best time to make an implement fit the quich hitch standard is when the implement is manufactured. Any implement that fits the standard can also easily be made to fit non-quick hitch tractors. The message implement sellers and makers needs to hear is "If it won't fit a quick hitch, I won't buy it. JD has this figured out and much of their product line fits I-Match. Landpride also understands. When you look at implements ask the dealer "Is it built to CAT I quick hitch standards?"

This question wilkl help drive home that they should be making stuff conform to the standard.

I echo all the above and add that you will have a transition/learning curve. You can expect initially to adjust and fit and possibly purchase a few things to make all your implements fit. The only implement that I have found not worth adapting to a quick hitch is a post hole digger. Once you get everything adapted and figured out your all set. If you expect to backup, hookup and go right off the bat then you will be dissappointed. I have a bad back and the quickhitch is a real benefit.

Bob, others have touch on it but the recurring problem with the quick hitches is that not all implements are built to the same pin spacing specifications. Measure your existing implements and see how much modification would be required to adapt them to the hitch. When I considered one I found that out of seven pieces of equipment two would work with the hitch system without modification. A couple would have required extensive modification. If you are using PTO implements make sure your PTO shaft is able to extend longer safely. The hitch will set your implement back several inches from its present position. I went with the Pat’s easy change system advertised here on TBN. It is not a ‘back up and pick it up’ system but much easier than without.

You sure you just didn't make up that "standard" based upon the way your SpeeCo is configured? Perhaps you didn't know that SpeeCo makes three sizes, Homier sells only the one. And the Homier I bought WAS a standard Cat1/2; meaning
1. it had 26" lower hook spacing, standard industry Cat 1
2. it had 3/4" lift pins that went through the tractor Cat 1 lower lift arm swivel balls
3. it had 3/4" pin holes for the tractor Cat 1 toplink.
The Homier hitch itself had Cat 2 hooks - top and bottom (thus the classification as a Cat 1/2). Took nothing more complicated than some $0.79 Cat 1/2 adapter bushings.

It was a good sturdy hitch, nothing "non-standard" about it. As with many other quick hitches, I also had to buy aftermarket floating toplink brackets to accommodate "non-standard" implements. If I hadn't gone to a bigger tractor, I'd never have sold my Homier Quick Hitch.

Bob - the Cat 1/2 Homier I sold added~2.5" to PTO shaft length. By contrast, my new Cat 2 Pat's ECS add a full 4". I was able to get by with the same PTO shafts after I bought the Homier, but had to buy new ones after replacing it with Pat's
