Quick hydraulic lesson

I have a Kubota B9200 HST, 4WD, and it is open center. So everything you do to it should relate to open center. If I remember right, the B8200 has three PTO's on it, is that right?

Thanks for writing!

I live out on Maury (the Other Island), but get out your way to see my sister now and then in Olalla.

The 4310 looks like a nice machine. I'm jealous of the BH. What a great tool. I just picked up my B8200 a few weeks ago here on the Island. I don't have the implements that need any additional hydraulics yet, so this is all just speculation on my part. But I am thinking that I would like to add a bucket grapple and will need a new valve. And adding Top and Tilt to the rear is on the radar as well for when I get that box blade.

I looked up your machine on tractordata.com and it states the hydraulic system is "open". That's all it says, but I take that to mean Open Center. What that means for buying a valve is still beyond me. I never realized how complex these systems are.

Keep me in the loop as you get deeper into the project. Would love to see it some time.

VashonFarmer, cycle_gator,

I'm just northeast of Seattle and also learning how hydraulics work. I know that my system is Closed Center. It says so in my tech manual. If you don't have a tech manual for your tractor, get one. There's a lot of good information in there. Mine has a very good description of how my hydraulic system operates.

As far as I have been able to discern, power beyond, relates to Open Center systems. Therefore, if you have a PB port, your tractor should be OC as power beyond is used to supply additional valves in OC systems. On my tractor, with the CC hydraulics, my valves are parallel, as they would not work being hooked in series.

It would be fun to maybe put together a summer barbeque for Western Washington TBNers. Since I raise cattle on my 17 acres and have a few cows I want to put in the freezer, maybe I can swing some fresh steaks and bring the grill to the ranch this summer for an open farm or something.

dcyrilc,

Seems like there are a fair number of us 'round these parts. Might be nice to meet some on a nice summer day.

I think the tech manual is the next thing I need to pick up. I got an Op manual, but it's pretty limited.

J.J. If you count the front wheel drive out put, there are 3 (not sure that counts). For open PTOs it has the rear and a mid.

Well I had the impression that I should have a rear and a mid, but I was just looking thru the Op manual and it only make reference to a rear and a front.

I'm going to have to get closer to my machine when I get home tomorrow. We're still just getting to know each other. It's still early in the relationship!
