Quick new Question BEFCO

OK, I should have added this in my first question, but here it is now. I do know that BEFCO offers flailmowers in my PTO range. Since there are none near me (Southern Illinois) I am left with two questions:

1) What is the price of the 60" and 72 " models?

2) Even though BEFCO rates the entire class as having a minimum of 15 HP PTO, will either of the larger ones still work on my trusty little JD 2305. I can attest to its ability to slash through dense, overgrown woodland and leave nothing but tree destruction in its wake. However, it would be nice to mow alongside a trail and chop the would-be encroaching woody stalks under existing protection--and offset would be ideal but not a deal killer.

3) I would also like to use it for general field mowing--fields consisting of 7'tall grass and weeds and anything that can cut a path larger than my own wheelbase would be an enormous plus here.

If your three point hitch cannot handle the weight of a 60 or 72 inch flail mower that is huge problem in itself as a rear mounted flailmower can weigh 478 pounds for a five footer to almost 700 pounds for a six footer with fixed hitch.

The other issue is a hydrostatic transmission will eat up a lot of useable torque reducing the net amount available to the Power Take Off too.


Tractor House had three used Mott flailmowers for sale last week in Texas and there abouts. It may be worth your while to purchase a used one andhave it shipped to you and if you do not like it you can sell a mott mower quite easily here or on craigs list as it will be sold quickly..

The parts are still easy to come by from flailmaster and other suppliers.

A lot of the members have purchased used Mott flail mowers and are very happy with them.

If you purchase one of them be sure to remove the lower hood as it will clog due to heavy grass loading unless you are crawling with the implement carrier.
