Quiet down 3 cylinder Ford with taller stock exhaust?

Tractor is a Ford 3600. I'm guessing the current exhaust is a generic Tractor Supply one, it's probably around 30" in total length. When looking at the replacement ones online I've seen that they're upwards of 49" long. Think it would help to have the exhaust exit above my head instead of eye level? I wear ear plugs when using the tractor right now. If I don't I get an almost ear ringing effect from it, probably not good for my long term hearing.

A muffler shop can extend the "tailpipe" part of your muffler higher. I don't remember the 3600 as being that loud from the factory.

The oval barrel mufflers are lots quieter than the round barrel cheap mufflers.

Sometimes adding a foot or even inches will make a big difference.
Resonance is probably what is happening, try slipping on an additional piece of pipe just as a test.

Agree on the oval mufflers, I went from a round tractor muffler, actually tried two different ones, to an oval auto muffler. A lot quieter with the oval muffler.

There's a bunch of 48-49" long ones with the oval muffler available online. Most are listed as "aluminized" I decided to get one that says it's black enamel. Should look nice, hopefully it holds up. Ford 3600 Muffler - E4NN523OFA
