I understand that tiltmeters are not for everybody on TBN as viewed on the past posts, but I just have to tell everybody that I purchased one last week to put on my B7500 for security. I have a ditch to mow, and endless projects that always seem to make me a little uncomforable on my tractor, probably due to my inexperience on this unit, when on ancline or slope. So I thought the minimal cost could help me feel better... and let my father-in-law know the slope he is at as the tractor tips over! Really, if he operates it ever, I will have it in low, the throttle limited, and a kill switch on a tether tied to my belt!
So I mounted the tiltmeter to the top of the cover on the spool valve for the FEL. There it would be easy to read, and it would stay with the tractor when the loader is removed. Well, it didn't work. It seems the indicator ball will not move for some reason, and I had less luck with the R&B bracket. I made my own bracket and installed it on the tractor, but again, the meter would not work. I contacted Rick at R&B, and he has gone beyond what I would have expected from a manufacturer of tiltmeters!
We have had several E-mails back and forth, and several new brackets and tiltmeters are on the way for me to try. It does not make sense why the one meter will not read, as it was installed vertically as it should be, but Rick is committed to figuring it out (and so am I). He has even offered to fly to the flatland (Illinois) and figure it out on site!
I really don't think this is a problem anyone has also experienced, but if you have, please let me know.
I intend to run a few test flights this weekend if the new meters and brackets arrive. I'll keep those interested posted. Until then, I can't say enough good things about Rick at R&B Manufacturing. Thanks, Rick!
