I'm not clear on what you are asking. Are you asking about OTHER than grey market?

And how would JD prevent Yanmar from selling here? JD doesn't control who can and cannot sell things in the US.

I'll take a stabe at this one....

From what I know and understand (I have been wrong before...alot!)

Yanmar sold here for a time and at the same time made engines for JD. The all wise and powerful JD entered into an agreement with Yanmar to buy some completely built tractors (790/990 as of late) and also supply engines and other parts for JD's line of compact tractors.

Now my understanding is part of the agreemnet was if Yanmar liked what JD was offering and jumped on board with the agreement that they could no longer sell (be competition) there tractors in the U.S.A. while under contract with JD.

My understanding is this contract between Yanmar & JD ended with in the last year or so. Now will we see Domistic Yanny's in the near future.....I keep hearing NO!...and with all the tractors company's out there it make's since to me that there is no reasion to push back into the U.S. market.

With all that said, they (Yanmar) have and are working on a crawler designed for the vinyards of Calf. but it's a special design for grape growing folks.....god knows I would love to have a brand new shinny YM336D sittin' in my barn /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I will add to what Whiskey said. John Deere started making large agricultural four wheel drive tractor in 1958. They were the 8010. This was two years before they dropped the two cylinder tractors. The 8010 and later 8020 did not sell very well and JD quit making them A man named Wagner was making large agricultural four wheel drive tractors. John Deere models WA-14 and WA-17 were built by Wagner under an agreement that kept Wagner from selling them under his name. When JD developed another design and started building them, Mr. Wagner was out of business because the agreement kept him from competing against John Deere.

I don't see any elephants in the woods in Ohio either, but that doesn't mean it's because Ringling Brothers is preventing anyone from bringing them here.

The fact of the matter is that Yanmar made JD compacts long before they quit selling new in the US.
