Hello, does anyone have experience with the deep lug r4 tires on the front of a tractor? I’m looking at bkt mud power 10-16.5 to replace the front tires on my m59. I would love to run r1 tires on the front along with the bkt rt747 tl tires on the rear. I’m on soft ground very often and need the traction of the r1 tires to get through. My thought with the deep lug r4 fronts is due to the 4000lb lift ability of the loader. Any suggestions would be great!! I can’t find anything online about this style tire.

First I grooved worn front R4 tires on the M59. Improved pasture and mud traction. Replaced tires with deep lug R4 which really improved traction. Carlisle Ultra Guard Industrial Tire -10-16.5 Amazon.com

As the tires wear I will groove.

Now replacing one tire after 6 years that i damaged. Lift capacity with my terrain is hard on tires.

Had a 60hp ag tractor with ag tires. Had trouble with front tire failure.

May try grooving the rears too.

I have R-1's all around on my M6040. They are six ply. I keep 40 psi in the fronts. I DO have to be careful when I do max lifting with my grapple. I've yet to roll a front tire off the rim but the possibility is always there.

My need for the added traction of the R-1 far exceeds any concerns about "loosing" a front tire.

My 60hp tractor with R1 tires had a few faults for my use. Low ply front tires and didn’t have rim guard like rear or skidsteer tires have. Dense woods would catch the rim on relative small stuff and bend a front rim. Straightened many with a cross peen hammer. Often thought about welding a 5/8” round rod or flat bar hoops to strengthen the rims.

Switching to R4s with rim guard on fronts solved the problems. Moving loads across a slope puts high stress on the downhill tire. Improved flotation on soft ground with heavy load.

I have found the difference of traction between R1 to R4 tires is less as the weight of the tractor goes up for loader work.
