Tires R4 tires and rims for John Deere 955

I've looked through the various posts on replacing tires on 955's, and there does not seem to be solid details on what my options are to replace turf tires with R4's. It looks like I would have to buy rims and tires.

Is there currently an option for purchasing front/rear matched industrial/R4 rims/tires? If so, I'd like to know about it, and would greatly appreciate the help. My local ag tire place can get R1's, but I'm doing a fair amount of lawn work with mine, and don't want the more aggressive tread. Plus, I'm in the ozarks with lots of sharp rocks and stobs to deal with.

Have you looked at deere's online parts catalog?

For seeing if your R3 [turf] with R4 [industrial], you can look that up at an ag tire website by checking the dimensions.
If you know your rim dimensions, that will help.

Thanks! This was really helpful. Looks like BKT makes one for the rears, I'll have to check about matched fronts.

It might prove difficult to find the correct size front tires as Deere never offered the R4 option.

Several years ago I replaced the fronts on my 955 with new exact replacement Goodyears (Titan made). They are made at least 2x heaver/stronger than the originals. I don't even add air to them when the front snowblower is attached, the originals would pancake without 30lbs of air.


I did have to take them back to the service station and have bead sealer applied, with 12lbs of air the beads wouldn't seal and they would leak down and go flat. :laughing:
