Does anyone have practical experience regarding R1 vs R4 on a 4wd JD 4115 sized tractor for nursery use(not lawns)? Occasional soft conditions, but not muddy. Here are my uses:

70% mowing (4' rotary mower) "rough" pasture/nursery conditions - tall grass/weeds 24", some depressions/holes/furrows,etc..

10% herbicide spraying in above conditions.

10% light grading, landscape rake, etc.

10% snow plowing with back blade

No true ground engagement work (plowing, etc.)

How do R4's work for plowing snow? This is a major concern. does extra footprint outweigh "bite" of R1's?

Anyone????? Thank you!

R1's would be better in snow than R4's. But, I do okay with R4's in the snow here (Southern Ohio).

Depending on where you are you might be able to get by with R4's, but for the tasks you list why not get R1's? Better traction all the way around. I went with R4's as a compromise since I was doing yard finish mower work.
