The LS specs list the engine as a S4QL though I cannot find any info on this engine. Is it the same as a S4Q2? Hopefully someone is in the know.

No, the S4Q2 is smaller, and puts out around 38-39hp (it's used in the R3039). What do you want/need to know about the engine?

S4L2 in the R3039.

Search for Mitsubishi engines. I found the complete spec sheet on a Mitsu website. Sorry, did not save the link.

I am looking at new tractors and comparing and just can't find any info on the S4QL engine. New holland lists the Boomer 40 and 50 engine as S4Q2 on their website. So I was trying to verify if they are indeed the same engine.

I just looked at the NH site, and they list the Boomer 35 as having the S4L2 engine, which is correct....1.7L/107 cubic inches or so. The Boomer 40 and 50 are the larger 2.5L/153 cubic inch engine.

My 4047 has the larger of the two, and it's a very nice running engine. It's smooth, powerful, and starts easily, even well below zero (F).

Cool thanks then based on the New Holland site I'll assume that the S4QL in the LS and S4Q2 are the same engine possibly renamed because it is built by LS.

GManBart I see you have an 8N listed in your signature how does the R4047 compare size wise?? I know it has a lot more power and weight. Reason I ask is I have a 56 600 series and like the size but don't want to go much bigger if any.

Ok the S4L2 was the 3039 engine the S4QL was the larger 4041/4047 4 cylinder engine if I am remembering right. The S4Q2 engine according to the Mitsubishi web site is the tier 4 equivalent 4 cylinder engine for the 4041/4047. Depending on the Yxxxxxxxx number after the S4Q2 it comes as a 33.5HP, a 46.4HP, or a 48.5HP engine. This has been my question, if Mitsubishi has a tier 4 compliant engine why did LS go to the Shibaura engine?

It is my understanding that LS went with the tier 4 Shibaura engine over Mitsubishi due to cost.

I am considering purchasing a 3039 with the s4l2 or the 4041 with the s4Ql-d. anyone know what the d after the s4ql means and also are they both good engines?
