While bush hogging today I had to stop ever 2 or 3 rounds and clean the radiator.I send my wife to the hardware to get some wire mesh.It is not pretty but it works, run 4 more hours with out having to clean.I did this in the field ,I will do it right at home this winter

Are you aware there is supposed to be a screen attached to the front on the radiator?

I got one on mine. I'ts a lot easier to clean the screen than the radiator, but like Gizmo, it's 2 or 3 rounds, then stop and clean the screen.

That wire mesh deal looks like it might be worth a try.

I think the wire mesh might be worth trying also. I am always cleaning my radiator screen and it's a pain to get out.

Larger screen means more surface area to hold chaff and slower airflow through screen. Slower airflow means less force holding the chaff to the screen. Less force makes it more likely the chaff will fall off. More chaff falling off means less captured and with a larger area to hold what is be captured - shoot, might be able to make 5 or 6 circuits before having to stop and clear the screen:D

Just curious how you were going to do it right, other than making a radiator screen. I carry a whisk broom in my tool box and stop about every 1/2 hour, or any time I see the temp begin to rise, and brush off the screen under heaviest mowing.

I am going to take the front grill off cut a peace of screen about 1in bigger .Fold it behind the grill put the 6 screws back in.Going to put a peace under the front . I think most of it is come from under the front. As fast as the chaff gets on the front and under it.the weeds will keep it clean.I am going to work on it Monday bye Wednesday I will know if it works .If it don't I will put it back like it is no matter how it looks.

I feel like most of it comes from underneath also. Can't believe that much stuff can get through the tiny holes in my grill. Been going to try and devise something to block underneath the front.
