My 5085e is having the options added that I have asked for, do it will be ready in a week or two. I ordered the antennae kit, but not a radio, as I want one with Bluetooth audio and phone use. I am confused if I need a harness or not after looking at a few websites and threads here. I am looking at an REI CD-5000 unit or a Jensen Heavy Duty JHD3630BT. Will my tractor have a harness that plugs right in, or do I need to buy an adapter...also thoughts on these radios would be appreciated. Want to order ASAP to have ready to install when tractor gets here. Also, does the REI come with a microphone? I see very little info on it out there.

IIRC they harness is a VW harness that you can get off of amazon.

I had my dealer install a radio in mine that's in the JD accessory book. It has Sirius, Bluetooth and cd. Can talk on the phone and stream music with the blue tooth

Hate to say this but the 5E's are too loud for hands free phone use. If someone calls me I need to stop the tractor and idle down to have a conversation, even without hands free. Mine is the loudest modern cab tractor I have ever been in, but I'm comparing that to JD 6 series, Kubota M100's, and MF 5600's at almost double the price so not a fair comparison!

I was all over my dealer about this sort of information for my 3046R. According to his service guys you should be able to plug the unit right in. I'm not sure if I believe that. Anything I've ever seen like that was RCA connections to an amp. I haven not taken the radio space cover off to see what's behind yet. Am sure that if required there is a harness as Red said. One interesting thing the dealer said was to be sure that the radio was rated for off road work. I'm not sure that they rate radios that way, but what he was getting at was vibration and being beat about. I'm like you, I'm only looking for Bluetooth basically so there should not be any moving or complicated mechanical parts like a CD player would have. I'm guessing just about any non-CD player type would be satisfactory as it's all solid state, etc. I had a quick look on Newegg/Amazon and there were a ton of Bluetooth receivers <<$100. That beats the $400+ my dealer wanted.

Anybody actually pulled the plate to see if it is a plug and what it looks like?

I put a Jensen 3630 Bluetooth in my 4066R. The radio plugs directly into the deere wiring harness no wiring modifications needed.
