Has anyone put a radio on their tractor with out a cab?
Is their an outdoor radio or will any automotive radio work?
I remember as a kid that on dad's JD 4320 he a a AM all weather radio.
Where would I buy such a radio if they make it anymore?
Or am I just wasting my time putting a radio on a tractor with out a cab?
thanks for all your help

Do the Peltor muffs with the radio work well, are they comfortable, are they heavy? What about the reception in rural areas?

I'm close to town, so I get "good" reception. They are very comfortable, not much heavier than a standard set of muffs and it drowns out the motor/mower noise. Actually, that was a good thing when I owned my Yanmar /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I use the fender mount model from Agri Supply. $95 bucks plus shipping. Has a weather proof enclosure door and a jack to plug in muffs if you want to go that way or not. Even has a cassette player. Check out my attachment or website home page for a pic of my YM2010 that I mow with. Much easier to get my teenage son to mow when he has his "tunes". /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
All you need is to drill mounting holes, bolt her down, and run a hot wire. Works really well.
Happy tractoring,
Nick

I have a radio on my NH 1920. I got it at TSC.. it is a flip up, fender mounted one... works good.. has a built in speaker.. and headphone jack. Not the best HI-FI radio.. but great for tunes while tractorin. I usually put some good muff style headphones on, and turn on the radio when mowing. The muffs block the mowin out and the tunes are nice. I have replaced the stock antenna though.. it came with a telescoping metal one.. I broke it on a branch, but found a fixed post one with the same thread pattern for the spring base..

I use the peltor work tunes because they are portable from job to job and between equipment. I have a walk behind Scag for mowing the yard and talk radio really helps pass the time. Also, when I have a lot of loader work to do I wear them on the Yanmar.

When I was growing up on the farm in GA we had a fender mount radio on our MF 265. I've seen the same style radio in TSC store. It lists for $106 but I know they have had it on sale for a lot less. Here is a link to it:

I suppose a radio is nice, but I like the music of the tractor. I like to be able to hear any noise that the equipment makes that might be telling me that I should check it out.
