Raising a dead 2N

I may need to move a 2N in order to repair it, what is the best way to get the loader off the ground?
I can lift it with my loader, but am not sure that will work ( or is a good idea ). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I moved a small Case 680 Dozer that was dead in a ditch. What I did was take my loader under 1 corner of the blade and lifted it enough to get a chain under it and then sat it down on a piece of firewood. I hooked the chain to the chassis and put the loader in float. It will be easier to lift the blade or loader if you do this step before lifting. Anyway when I hooked my tractor up and pulled the chain being tight keep the blade about 1 foot off the ground.

The other thing you could do is cut some lengths of angle iron. Lift the loader with your loader and place the angle iron over the rods of the lift cylinders. Example is if the cylinder is a 24" stroke having 2 pieces of say 15" angle iron would hold it up a little over half way. Secure the angle iron in place with 2 hose clamps on each one then lower the loader and move the tractor.

You can do it that way with another set of hands. Someone should hold the lift control lever of the 2N in the "raise" position while you raise the lift arms and bucket with your loader. The 2N bucket and lift arms "should" remain in the raised postion when the control lever is released. This assumes that the 2N loader still contains oil.

depends on if it is a full hyd loader or one run off the test port. DP has a pretty good idea witht he angle iron and band clamps.

Run the tow chain under the loader.
