Rake/Tedder Combos

Anyone have any advice on a hay rake/tedder combo? I've noticed there's not a many rake/tedder combos available and I'm not sure why that is. It would seem to me to be a money saver not having to switch implements. Anyway, I've been looking at some used New Holland 254s and wondered about the pros and cons. I'll be using for grass hay on about 30 acres. Appreciate any insight. Thanks,

I have not used one, but many say that the NH units are good at one or the other but not both.

I have a Lely Lotus and feel it does excellent to ted, good to very good with rake feature.

My only comment on a rake tedder is most will not allow you to combine two machine widths or more into one windrow, you can only rake the width of the machine into a windrow.

PZ Haybob seems to be decent, Kuhn still makes this today, and even a deluxe one that will rake to the side.

I'd just get a tedder and rake and be done with it.

The reason why is that it doesn't do either job well! They are also known as Haybob.
It may be usable in your situation, but be sure you know what you're getting.

I have a Sitrex HM 300 Haybob and it does both well. You can double the windrow widths by just raking the other way against your first row. You can pick the whole thing up at the ends and turn on a dime

Only thing we find haybob is really any good for os if a field that’s already been raked to bale gets rained on and we just set the gates out wide on it and it just fluffs the row up!
