1965 MF 150
Ran into a guy wanting to sell his MF 25. I have found the basic information on it - made in France 1963-65, 4 cylinder Perkins, etc. that you can find on Tractordata.com and a few sites. Seems it is hard to find parts for. Is it really worth much other than to a collector? Seems like it could be a nice little tractor until something tears up. What is your thoughts? knowledge? experience?

Can only offer thoughts, I personally had no knowledge or experience with them until like you I read a little about them. Depending on what your intentions would be, fix it up enough to use it or a full-up restoration and sale to a collector, I'd be going over it with that in mind and making sure I could get the parts I need to achieve either of those two goals.

If you're looking for a companion to your 150 and plan to use it (was surprised to read the PTO HP was so close to engine rated HP) and the price was right (a little over 10K for the one on tractordata ) I think it could be a fun project.

I haven't done a ton of research but I didn't read anything indicating it had any real issues, introduction of the 130s to satisfy a higher HP demand in the US to rival what competitors had on the market were reasons given for its limited production.

Thanks for the reply Mike476. Haven't quite decided whether to go for it or not. My FIL was trying to trade his 8N for it but the guy wanted cash not another tractor. Size/power/etc. it is pretty close to the 8N but with the L/H range and diesel it would be a lot more useful I think. But compared to the 8N, would be hard to maintain/fix if it ever had a problem. The guy that owns it uses it to pull logs out of the woods so it is a working tractor. Hydraulics worked but not sure about the PTO. Would definitely have to see that before I would take a chance.

I've used my 135 for log skidding, nice stable tractor for that kind of work. People will say a 4WD is better suited, no doubt on softer ground it would be but I try to do that kind of work after the frost has settled in. Nicer in the woods with no bugs and better all around footing.

If the PTO works and the price is close to what your FIL could get for his 8N the only question is timing I guess.

Nice looking tractor. If the parts are available it would be a fun one to have.
