Seems like most of the raising action occurs in the 8-9-10 area of my CK30HST control, no raising until i get in that area, is that normal?

I'm new at this, there seems to be some relationship between the adjusted length of the upper link and the raising action? I haven't quite got this figured out in my 3 days of experience.

Any hints appreciated.

I would say it depends how low your link arms are when they are attached to an implement. I use a flail mower presently and when the mower is lowered, the arms are not nearly as low as they can go. So, there is an area where there is no travel, the implement is floating. Without anything hooked on your three point hitch, push your lever all the way forward and see how low the links can go and then raise your lever. I think you'll see everything is fine.

Oh yes....it's getting clearer. When I hooked up the mower I moved the arms to mower height requirements, the arms could have perhaps been lower.... thanks

Your left lift rod can be mounted in two length positions. Look at the bottom of the left lift rod where it bolts to the left lift arm. Mine was originally in the bottom hole. I needed more lift so I moved it to the top hole and then leveled with the right adjustable rod.

Are you using your new King Kutter brush mower when this is happening.
On my 6' KK brush mower the lift pins on the cutter where to high, causing the issue you are having.
I drilled new holes and lowered the cutters lift pins 5"( only took a few minutes to change). Much, much better now. Lowering the lift pins moved the cutter farther back from the tractor (it was previously to close). It also gave me much higher lift height when the cutter is raised.

Mine is the same way, seems like I move it half way up before the lower arms move any.

That's because your arms are already in a higher position. There is nothing wrong. Like I mentioned before, with no implement attached your arms will be lower when the lever is pushed fully forward. Move the lever back and you will see the arms move throughout the whole range of the lever.

As Victor pointed out, you can change the level of the lift arms by moving the left arm into either the top or bottom hole. A secret to knowing which you need is in the adjustment of the other side, the adjustable right lift arm. If you find that it's hard to level without turning the right arm almost to the end of it's run, move the arm on the left to the other hole. That left arm should then hang down as far as possible. Adjust the right arm so that when you move the hitch lever, both arms lift the implement at the same time. With a mower on, I would expect that you would get movement around 5-6.
Playing with the adjustments on the left and right hitch arms is a good way of discovering just how to get the very best settings.
With a mower on, adjusting the top link will have a lot more to do with how the mower floats when your tractor changes position, i.e. the front goes down, the mower gets pulled up if you have the top link adjusted too short. If your mower has a slot that the top link hooks into, put it to the middle or near the rear of the slot and the mower should float without rising when the tractor goes into a depression. Different mowers have different hook ups, so you'll need to play with that. Sorry, I got a little off topic, but I just want to impress on you that playing with all the adjustments, and placement of bolts etc. can lead to finding the best positions to use.

Thanks for all the info, I'm reading and re-reading it.

And I'm glad I only cut about 3" off the PTO shaft!!
