I know there is a potentiometer that decides what position the range selector is in. What I'm looking for is if there is an adjustment to the switch position/location to get it to display the correct position of the range selector?

From what I understand.

There is a procedure in the service manual explaining how to teach the cruise control module. It is written in a very confusing manner IMO. I would have to mess around with it to figure it out exactly. This is what I get out of it.

cruise in neutral (center position ??)
The engine needs to be off with key on.
Both left and right parking brakes applied.

turn on cruise than turn off. H light should be flashing.
go to the high range setting, go from "on" to neutral on the cruise switch.
go to neutral and it should flash N on dash. go from on to neutral.
do this for every range.

BTW.
manual indicates one neutral setting on the pot. is 3.1 and the other is 1.9volt (both are +/- .03vdc)
medium range pot voltage is 2.5vdc +/-.03vdc
To meter this the pot would have to be plugged into the tractor harness and than find a way to probe into pin number 2 of this 3 wire connection. Obviously tractor key would have to be on. no reason to have the tractor running.

I would meter the pot before doing anything.
The pot is a 2k ohm potentiometer. so pins 1 and 3 should read 2k ohm. 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 will vary resistance as the pot is turned.

All this is from looking through service manual. I have not verified the operation and that would have to be done before I can tell if any of the procedure is correct.

Thanks! Sounds like a 'fun filled' adventure. Guess I'll have to try to decipher it and give it a go soon to see if I can get it back on track.

Cool. Have you run the tests yet to see if it's accurate?

Yes sir.
It worked.
I tried several times and I was stupid and waited for the glow plugs to shut off.
Have the parking brakes on. Cruise in neutral switch position.
As soon as the key is turned on press "on" on the cruise switch.
The h started flashing immediately. I presses "on" on the cruise and moved to closest trans neutral and it started flashing........

I don't know if it made a difference because my tractor is fine.

That is that.

Nice. I'll try it soon on mine and hope it will resolve the issue.
