Ranger Tire Recommendations

I am slowly but surely adding on to my 700XP. So far, winch, brush guard, headlight guards, halogen driving lights, windshield and roof. When I am home on my 2 weeks leave around Christmas time I would like to have a set of tires and wheels waiting for me to install. Any recommendations on tires and where to order from? Most of my riding is on dry ground. In the winter and spring there is an area behind my house that we affectionately refer to as the swamp. The only time my Ranger has ever gotten stuck with it's factory tires in the swamp was when we had rutted out the trail so much the the belly of the Ranger finally drug. That has happened twice and I was able to winch out both times. I am not concerned about tearing up the lawn. I do a little bit of what I call "technical riding", climbing it up out of our creek where it has to climb up a bank that is 12 to 18 inches straight up. I am thinking about 27"s. I am wanting the wheels for nothing more than looks, but if I am getting new wheels why not some tires also. Any recommendations?

Since you are not concerned about your lawn, most guys I know say that the 589's or "Vampires" give the best traction. The 589's are really popular because their carcass is really tough as well so they don't have many puncture issues. I have 27" Maxxis Bighorns on my Rhino and am happy with them, but there is no doubt that the 589's or even Mud Lites would provide more traction. I wanted a good riding tire as well. Guys I know with the 589's say that their tires are rather hard, but that makes them last long and also less likely to get a flat but they do ride harder as well. Good luck!

i would take a look at the high lifter outlaw m.s.t. very good riding tire on hard pack and also very good in mud . m stands for (mud) s (snow) t (trail) i am very satified with them on my rtv

man a 700xp with some 28''589's would be truely unstoppable.i have some 27's on my hpx.heck even go with just the 27'' 589's the ride on my hpx isn't really that bad and it doesn't have nearly the shock travel the the polaris does. just remember after you get the 589's you ain't gonna be doin no more donuts because they don't slip they bite my son don't like um because of that he used to do donuts on the hpx with the 489's but now he can't .i got mine from here ATV Mud Tires from ATV Direct and with the tires and rims and lugs shipping too it was 560.00 and they were delivered to my house within a week.

the outlaw m,s,t is a far superior tire than the 589 the tread cleans out faster and has a far smoother ride on hard pack trails. but its your money

Hey Brent, While I don't have a ranger . I just put 28 " swamp lites mounted on ITP alum. wheels on my polaris .I found the best price from a guy on E Bay. ( $600.00) delivered .The lugs aren't real far apart so , they don't give a rough ride on dry ground . SO far ,I have no complaints about how they nagivate through the mud. I have friends that I ride with that have mud lites that say, the ride is a little rough on dry ground.

I went with 26" Mudhook Extremes on my Grizz and have been very pleased.

I also did not loose any noticible power.

Some of the newer radials also give a nice ride. Bought a set of the Bighorns for my Dad's Grizz and they are nice too

Get a 6 ply tire w/rim guards if you get some nice wheels -

589 has a deeper lug and is a lighter tire than the outlaw i think you would loose money and power buying them.if you want a smooth ride and a mud tire go with a mudlite it has a 1.1/4 lug on the 26'' and up and they are lighter than the outlaws and 589's the 589's have the same jug dept as the mud lites but they bite more and weight more and sure they do ride rougher. but when riding off road i never exspect the trails to be smoothe anyway. if you want a smoothe ride take a afternoon ride in the car sight seeing .utv's ar for riding off road.
