2016 Kubota L3901 HST with LA-525 front loader
Hi folks,

I saw an advertisement for the "Ratchet Rake," which is like a set of teeth for a loader bucket, except that it functions more like a rake/ripper. It attaches to the bucket by means of ratchet tie-downs. I wonder if anyone here has had experience with this product, and whether they'd recommend it. The kinds of tasks I envision using it for include clearing brush, pulling out roots, and smoothing gravel that I've applied to driveways. I also wonder whether the rake is appropriate for my Kubota LA525 loader, particularly with regard to the amount of strain imposed on the bucket cylinders from using such an attachment.

Great attachment. Less strain on your FEL and bucket than trying to accomplish same tasks WITHOUT a Ratchet Rake.

Tractor Supply Company sells the smallest size. Larger two sizes order from the TBN store.

I have the same loader (earlier #/model name) and I use the larger 6' size on the 5' bucket. I like being able to get the outside tip close to things... there should be a few folks that will chime in with the the Piranha Tooth Bar. Another option:

I have a 6' Rachet Rake on my bucket and love it. I very rarely take it off. I think you will be pleased with how well it works.

I've had one 3 years and recommend it highly. It will greatly enhance the functionality of your FEL.

I use mine every time I want to clean out my ditches in the spring of wet leaves. Sure, it takes awhile going 5' at a shot but is much easier than raking.

I agree on the Piranha Tooth Bar. Installed and have never removed it.

It's great for digging, back dragging, etc.

I bought mine used for $75. Best deal ever. If you are clearing or smoothing land, this is the best tool.

I have one on a bobcat ct230. I will admit I was a little disappointed in the performance with it clearing out small stumps (2-4") I have used it to clear a lot of vines and over growth on my property. I used it to grade a 1/4 mile drive and it worked well. I would like to add some sides to it to bring the gravel back toward the center instead of pushing it out in the grass.

I bought one late last summer from the TBN Store. It's been a very handy tool. I've used it for landscaping and gravel maintenance.

It won't work for digging, though. If you need that, you'll want the Piranha Tooth Bar, or similar.
