Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Rating Two Stage Snow Blowers on hills

I am looking for feedback convcerning blowing snow on a hilly driveway. I am concerned on havign the snow blower run away from me on the downslope or falling back on the up slope by using a smaller snow thrower last year.

I use this one for the smaller areas and it is powerful and will not run on you downhill. It has a hydrostat drive system that brakes upon releasing the movement lever.

You shouldn't have a problem with the snow blower stepping on your toes and running away. Or have I misunderstood the question? :drink:

Thanks for the tip. I had heard that the Honda unit with track drive would slip on ice? I had a small snow thrower that would tend to go downhill faster than I could walk behind it. Now with upgrading to a lot heavier unit, I am concerned that I would not be able to hold on to it if it speeds up going downhill on a slippery surface.

I have a concern about a heavy 2-stage snow blower on hills. Going down - it could run away from me. With it being heavier than I could hold, it could run away from me. Or going uphill, it could slip back on me. I had a snow thrower that I used on this driveway for the first time since we moved in. I found that the little snow thrower was hard to hold back going downhill on slippery, icy conditions.

So I guess you are saying that the bigger / heavier snow blower would not run away downhill as it is too heavy?

Another vote for the Honda 928.

GREAT unit, throws further and more accurate than my tractor. I live on a hill too, and the track drive hondas are as sure footed as a mountain goat!. They can climb up stairs to blow off decks too.

Only thing Id do different is get the wider 1132. Best blower out there by far.

No way a honda with its hydrostatic drive could run away from you.

I think you will find that 2 stage walk-behind blowers will stop all movement when you let go of the handlebars, unless you buy one that is nearing "antique" age.
