Rattle rattle

Hey! I am the proud new owner of a DK40HST, and I could not be happier with a tractor. I found one little annoyance... VERY little, but still annoying. The loader indicator rattles within it's guide tube. Anyone notice this? At certain RPM's, the indicator rod rattles loudly. Anyone have any tricks to quiet it down? If not I can live with it..

If it is just the bucket level indicator I suppose you could find a plastic or rubber sheath to mount around the top opening. You could also put a very slight bend into the indicator rod so it would press firmly against the tube rather than being free to rattle about inside.

I don't think that is really your problem however......

Make sure it is not the loader stands (the swinging metal legs to keep the loader upright when you dismount the loader). That caused rattling on my KL401 until I took a wooden shim and jammed it so it stopped. Your question reminds me that I put that wooden shim in over a year ago as a temporary fix (diagnostic test really) but it has never rattled again so it is hereby the official final permanent solution to the rattling problem.

yes i had same thing, I used an old piece of rubber fuel line and slipped over with liquid soap solved problem.

Soon enough, you'll bend that rod with a branch or something whether you want to or not and it won't rattle anymore. If it's the loader stands, well, do you plan on taking the loader off much? Do you intend to take it off while out in the field? I happily removed those silly stands and stashed them in my garage since I have no plans of taking the loader off.

Mine had a annoying squeak every time i dumped the bucket. So I took it out of the sleeve and put a heavy coat of grease on it and that solved the issue. I think this may work for you to because the grease will be somewhat sticky, and not let it raddle around in the tube. Maybe not?? But worth a try.
