I was wondering if any of you guys have experience with Rayco's T275A Mulcher. I have been looking for a mulcher to use in
S.E. Oklahoma. We have rocky terrain and will primarily be mulching red cedar and black jack oak. The cedars can be up to 12" and the oak about 8". I had almost decided on the C100, but given the size of some of the trees we have to deal with and that it is a large property I have started to consider a larger machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Go Larger if you can afford it. I do not know much about the 275 but I would steer around Rayco if you can locate other options. If the terrain is rocky and not to steep I would look at a rubber tire machine. Rubber tires are tons faster if the trees are spread out at all. In the tight stuff tracks are just as fast,

Thanks for the help. I seem to get the same opinion from a few others I have talked to. Right now the Barko 930 is how I plan to go. I have been talking with Lynn Hexdrix and they have a new head that they had Fecon make for them for this machine. They made a few changes and beefed up some of the components to increase durability.

Good choice! I was going to demo the 930 with the smooth drum fecon but I have decided after I demoed the Supertrak that 300hp is to much for my needs right now. I am having Hendrix get a Prentice 2664 ready for me to demo. I am also negotiating to have an FTX-148 delivered as soon as one is available.

I had thought the Prentice might be the better choice for me as well. Hendrix said that it is probably the most reliable machine they sell. He got me thinking more about the 930 though as it is 30% more expensive but perhaps 50% more productive. We have a lot of cedars that are 12" or better and Lynn said the 930 with ther new head would handle them a lot quicker. The teeth on the new head are a lot easier to change as well. I would be very interested to see what you think of the Prentice and the 148l. They would of course fit my budget better.

@$225k for the Prentice and $170K for the 148 I am looking at $395k for both machines and I do not see how the Barko could work faster than the two combined. You also know how the work tends to come and two machines will ba able to be at two places at the same time. I think that the Barko may be a little to much for you to if I may be honest. Ceder is very soft and I think that 190 hp will grind it very easily seeing how my FTX-140 grinds both eastern cedar in TN and the pinyon and juniper out here in NM. Just my opinion but that is the way that I am steering my business. I also think that it is important to be on both tires and tracks to limit downtime in bad weather.

Thanks for your input. That is exactly what I have been trying to figure out, how much machine to buy. I started thinking one of the new Rayco or Fecon 100's would do the trick and somehow worked my way up to a 930. We will be using the machine on a private property, not for commercial use. The main concern is the property covers 4000 acres and we will be doing the work when we can fit it in with everything else going on, not mulching 5 days a week. So a smaller machine makes sense in some ways, but the trade off is it will take us much longer to get the property the way we want it. We thought about hiring the work done but like the idea of having a machine to stay with the property.

You do have a delima don't you. You need the big machine to get the job done and then you need the small machine for maintenance to keep the site in shape.
