Hello, getting a new tractor I had to get a new mower big enough for the tractor the dealer suggested a RC2084 rotary cutter, I do know it's primary use is mowing pastures but I was wandering about using it for mowing my lawn. I know it's not a finishing mower and know it won't give me the same cut as one but I am wandering if I used it for mowing my lawn (2-3" cutting height) what would the lawn look like? Does anyone have pics of using one on their lawn?
Thank you.

I've used rough cutters on lawns before. The results at ok if you take your time, otherwise you might get some mohawking. Also, you might find the area under the tires to spring back up a little the next day.

All that being said, I would probably start looking for a zero turn or something similar. I think the 5115m's weight is going to link your mowing to when it is very dry out and even then you might cause compaction issues that would hamper lawn grass growth and overall health unless you have the
big golf n turf super floater tires.

I'm not too worried about the tires affecting the lawn, I've been driving on it with R1's in the past. I guess my concern is the size of the blades on the mower deck, big and blunt, not sure how they would cut the grass. I

do plan on a finishing mower in the future but being as how I just made a huge purchase I have to make use with what I got, that's why I was wandering about cutting lawn with it.

It will not "cut" the grass... it will beat, tear and rip the grass off which is not good for "lawn" grass. This is what the swinging, blunt blades are designed to do. It will make the grass shorter, but it won't be pretty... you need a finish mower with it's thin, sharp blades to cleanly cut the grass off instead of ripping the blades of grass in two.

That's what I was thinking, that means I will probably have to rent one from my neighbor till I can afford one for myself.
