Re: Ezee On loader on MF 135 tractor

Season Greetings All
I actually quit posting some time ago because I just seemed to not get anywhere. I have pulled the top off my MF 135 twice; adjusted linkage and rockshaft and put her back together. Draft will work slowly and intermittently, most reliably when I put the engine in neutral and let it idle at low RPM. When I did still have my diverter valve on I tried the supply port completely open and hardly got a dribble of fluid When I pulled the diverter and advanced the draft control the fluid immediately shot 18" above the stand pipe. I put the original cap back on the stand pipe, adjusted response control and transport stop and really got no difference in performance.
If I ever do get it working right I plan to use a 7gpm PTO pump to power the FEL. My question is will a faulty hydraulic relief valve cause the internal hydraulic pump to act unreliably?

First thing springs to mind - from personal experience - have you ensured the filter on the pump pick-up is not clogged?
They are brass wool, and can be removed, washed out in solvent and refitted. First drain about 3 gallons of oil from the rear plug, then remove the RH round plate (has the oil dipstick in it) for access. Afterwards, scrape all the remaining gasket off and use a good-quality RTV sealant. Remember to also apply a little sealant to the threads of the bolts, and do not over-tighten them. Refill the oil at the plug next to the main gear lever.

Merry Christmas to all.

Now that's the spirit. A little selfish there, but in fun.
Patrick that is a very good suggestion and I will try it. Getting the basic functions right on this tractor has stymied my efforts to get a loader operating for month's. It has been frustrating, disheartening and confusing.
Thank you and Merry Christmas

I was wrong in my earlier reply ... Access to the filter is from the LH plate - with the PTO lever. Ensure this mechanism is correctly engaged on refitment. Mine has the eariler Mk2 pump - later tractors with Mk3 pumps are different. Read Post 7 in this thread for more in-depth info:

There is also a very well written description of exactly where to have 3PT levers positioned when using a diverter valve for a loader, but I can't find it. There are much better-experienced guys than I who read this forum ... possibly they can post a link. I have never used one - my loader has a crankshaft-driven pump.
Our 135 was purchased new by my late father and like most farmers, if it works, don't mess with it is the usual approach. I cannot remember the gearbox oil was ever changed, much less the filter receiving any attention, until about 5 years ago I was working it trimming up around the bank of the only dam on the property we had just bought. Driving repeatedly over the bank was sloshing the oil from one end of the casing to the other and stirring up the accumulated rubbish on the bottom. I found the 3PT was slowly taking longer to raise - to the point it would take 30 secs. I researched the possible causes, on removal found the positively awful condition of the original filter, then was genuinely amazed the local dealer had one in stock. Only then I realised it could have merely been washed and refitted, but I was very happy to fit the new one - after 45 years the tractor deserved it. Rinsed the casing out with some diesel and then some solvent, let it drain for a day, filled it with fresh oil - all Ok since.

I reckon if your 3PT lifts a serious weight, then the pressure relief valve should be Ok. TractorData quotes 4.5gpm and 2850lbs (obviously when new) lifting capacity, so anything over about 2000lbs would be fine. Again, don't dismantle anything other than cleaning the filter .... other guys will chime in with a solution to this problem.

Re: Ezee On loader on MF 135 tractor

To use aux. hyds. the draft control has to be all the way up and so does the position control. The position control actually has to pulled all the way to stop and then pushed over and pulled in further back into constant pumping position. Having the 3 pt. all the way up may also cause the aux. hyds. to not work properly.

This is to let any interested; thanks Patrick for the advice. My hydraulic filter was clogged with rust scale dropped from the underside of the transmission lid that had mixed in the transmission fluid. Cleaned it out with kerosene and compressed air. This is the first time this tractors hydraulics have behaved as they should since I bought it last July. Thank everyone for their advice
