Re: LED Headlights and ROPS Worklights

JackIL has informed me that Ventrac is now installing LED headlights on the 3400 and 4500 Series tractors in place of the halogen headlights previously used. The new LED headlights have a hybrid dispersion pattern that is something of a cross between a spot pattern and a medium-flood pattern. The LED units can also be used in place of the halogen ROPS work lights. On 4500 series tractors with serial numbers below 4500-AJ02491, installation also involves substituting a modified Top Grille Section, Ventrac Part Number No. 60.1253, for the factory-installed component.

Some technical specifications:

-- 1.3 Amperes of current draw per unit at 13.8 volts dc (2.6 Amperes for two headlights, 5.2 Amperes for two headlights and two ROPS-mounted work lights);

-- 1,380 Lumens of light output per unit;

-- Rated service life 50,000 hours;

-- Aluminum die-cast housing, Automotive Optical Grade, Hard-Coated Polycarbonate lens.

Connection to the wiring harness also involves use of a light harness, Ventrac Part No. 32.0162.

The part number for each LED unit itself is 33.0062.

The LED units are also found on the KW450 and LW450 cabs and on the work-light kit for the Model 3400 tractor.

The LED units use about 28% of the current drawn by their halogen counterparts.

Re: LED Headlights and ROPS Worklights

The past Winter, several times when I cleared the driveway of snow, I did so at dusk or during the night. Even during the day, when I was down near the road, I put all four white lights and the amber strobe on, to help let others know that I was there.

The stock lights are inadequate for anything more than occasional use with a plow or blower,as they just reflect the light back at you when the plow is raised.the blower is so high it's the same thing.i mounted 18watt LED lights on my rollbar,what a difference,one of them outshines both stock headlights.i just picked up a used older cab,and I'll be putting LEDs on it as well.

Excellent point about reflections from the headlights, Raw Dodge. I found when I attached the snowblower that I was much better off turning the headlights off and using only the ROPS-mounted work lights. When using the broom, it was not as bad, but with the blower, turning the headlights on was counterproductive.

Heh, in the winter when I go to work....it's dark. When I get home......its dark.
Snow doesn't care if it's the weekend or not.

I love my 8,000 lumens of add-on lights.

Amazon.i bought 3 sets ,I think they were 28.00 a pair...very well built,IP 67 rated,I built some guards for them,I have a bad habit of breaking my lights,these guards should protect them...I tend to hit low limbs with the rops bar...

Re: LED Headlights and ROPS Worklights

Thanks RD, What brand are those lights ? The guards look good. I still can't mount anything on top of my ROPS until I rebuild the front of my shed and make the door opening higher.
